CONTEMPORARY ONE : 1205

A B O U T
'1205 is a pure and exact survey of aesthetic principles.
Founded in 2010 following designer Paula Gerbase’s significant time on Savile Row, 1205 focuses on quality of cut, fabric and proportion, emphasising traditional craftsmanship by seeking the essential, and seeking the silence within the noise.
1205 is influenced by the formal precision of geometry and the vital elegance of nature; starched collar stands lend a formality to otherwise eased volumes and raised textures, coats reinterpret tailored constructions in technical fabrics, formal trousers are offered in new shapes, knitwear features 1205’s distinct asymmetry. An overarching elegance which refuses to distinguish between a man’s or a woman’s timeless uniform.
Collaborating with highly specialised mills in England, Switzerland, Italy and Japan, Central St Martins alumna Gerbase explores exacting cuts in tactile fabrics to present an austere vision of form captured through precision and technique.
As a consequence of her menswear and women’s couture training, quality of cut and fabric are paramount in Gerbase’s design. A microscopic gaze results in a unique, modern, radically clinical point of view.'

The website design for brand 1205 - exemplifies it's style minimal and structural - I like the easy navigation this should be a key consideration when creating 2x1 web - I also feel the clear aesthetic is something that needs to reiterated in they way this is - this is something that needs to be communicated throughout my brand - the site and layout its self does the talking - not male nor female. I like the inspirational imagery is used in the opening page - though I feel it would be better if you could purchase the garments from this website  - it isn't creative enough for 2x1.

"Her label isn't showy, but every garment includes a "little code" or "hidden message": small, deliberate 'mistakes' "like the wrong-coloured right cuff or an unexpected internal pocket," she says: "With these surprises I try to communicate with the person wearing the clothes in subtle ways."

The communication tends to be featured in black and white - dark hues - it fits with the website and branding - the clear colours and minimal style is reiterated throughout - this is something that makes this brand clear and concise - something that 2x1 should focus on for their communication  -

The name 1205 comes from a desire for anonymity : 'it was never about me. It was always about things that interested me that i loved like fabric, a proportion, a movement.'

I like the simple silhouettes featured in 1205's designs - though everyone is unique they all are similar in aesthetic - the oversized shapes work well to reflect the gender neutrality

the colour palette  is neutral in tones - something that 2x1 wants to refrain from being -
